As indicated by various sources, Mr Sowore, who is the 2019 presidential hopeful of the Africa Action Congress (AAC), declined to pay the customary praise of prostrating to the Ooni on the ground because the monarch allegedly kept him and his party members waiting for three hours before granting them audience when they visited the palace.
According to reports, Mr Sowore’s meeting with the Ooni had been slated for 12:00 pm on Monday but was delayed till 3:00 p.m because the monarch was not on seat to attend to the publisher and his AAC team. Sowore had planned to visit the palace to seek the monarch’s counsel regarding his presidential ambition.
It was learnt that it took the intervention of some students of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) and some followers of Sowore to settle the drama pulled by the presidential aspirant.
Speaking after the reconciliation, Oba Ogunwusi counselled Mr Sowore, saying, “Leadership is like a dumping ground, people throw different things at you. Some throw good things, some throw bad things,” the monarch said.
“In the course of leading, you’re going to meet brilliant people and half baked brains too. You’ve to be patient with them,” he told the visitors,” said the monarch.
