Taraba Calls For Rigorous Check On Environmental Degradation Activities

Taraba Calls For Rigorous Check On Environmental Degradation Activities
This was reiterated at the commissioning of a field office for National Environmental Standards, and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) in the State Capital, Jalingo. The commissioning of a National Environmental Standards, and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) field office in Jalingo implies a closer check on
environmental degradation activities in the state. The state has for years been affected by illegal mining, poaching, and deforestion, the most recent of which is the massive cut down of rosewood which is known for it's high demand in China. Director General of NESREA Lawrence Anukam says the Environment must be protected against exploitation and abuse, as the state of an environment is closely linked to the health of it's people. He commended the Taraba State Government for it's efforts towards the establishment of a NESREA field office in the state, and promised that defaulters of Environmental laws will face the wrath of the law. The Taraba State NESREA field office is the 25th in the country.
